Marie Curie Hospital Extension - Atrium

Bucharest, Romania

Marie Curie is the largest children hospital in Romania. We supported our client MJ Project who are acting as the main Structural Engineer on the project to develop a fully parametric atrium structure. The result is a complex tree-like steel structure supporting the atrium roof. As part of our brieft we developed a parametric script for the steel arrangement that can be easily transformed until the desired pattern is achieved by the architect at Tessaract. At the same time we parametrically linked the Grasshopper geometry of the atrium with a finite element analysis plug-in to verify the structural behaviour.
